Raised to be Sent Out

During our last week in this Lenten devotional we turn to a challenging Resurrection story where we learn that the disciples are sent out and they too are raising people from the dead! Amazingly, that is also our story, that we have been raised to life to now join Christ in bringing light into the darkness. We are being called to participate in RISING UP and bring life into every part of our daily experience. In week 6, you will be challenged by some of our own faithfully answering the call to go out and “raise the dead.” As you read Matthew 10 this week, consider how you are being called to join Christ in His mission.

Read Matthew 10 and spend time in prayer.

To be used in Sunday School/small group discussion April 9:

Today, we come to the end of our devotional journey together. Appropriately, we now consider how God has called us to be a part of His mission in the world. Shockingly, God desires to continue bringing Resurrection into the world through his disciples, you and me. Kingwood United Methodist church has rightfully chosen a mission statement to “make disciples of Jesus Christ in the world,” and that is the very mission that Jesus gave to His followers in Matthew 10. Generosity means choosing others before self-indulgence and gratification, it means sacrificing and giving, it means walking in the footsteps of Christ. So as Jesus sent out the 12 to go and “Raise people from the Dead,” we are also Rising Up to bring life into the world.

And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that you may always have enough of everything, and may provide in abundance for every good work. -2 Corinthians 9:8

What stood out this week from your devotionals?

How does Matthew 10 challenge your thoughts of generosity?

What have you learned about generosity during Rising Up?

Again we ask, what are you excited about in the future at KUMC?
