The Stephen Ministry is here to help.
Confidential Support
Stephen Ministers are members of KUMC who have gone through training to provide emotional and spiritual support to people who are going through a difficult time, such as divorce, grief, hospitalization, unemployment, terminal illness, relocation, chronic illness, or loneliness.
They offer weekly in-depth confidential visits filled with Christian love and support. They listen, pray with and for you, and if necessary, will offer resources and referrals.

How do I receive a Stephen Minister?
Stephen Ministers address these and other needs:
- Separation or divorce
- Loss of a loved one
- Job stress or unemployment
- Depression
- Chronic or terminal illness
- Child birth or adoption
- Financial crisis
- Spiritual crisis or disconnection
- Aging or being a caregiver for the elderly

Who can become a Stephen Minister?
Stephen Ministers are congregation members trained by their Stephen Leaders to offer care to people who are hurting. A Stephen Minister typically has one care receiver at a time and meets with that person once a week for about an hour.
Anyone in the congregation who possesses the spiritual gifts of empathy, compassion, and listening to a person experiencing a life crisis may apply to become a Stephen Minister.
How do I become a Stephen Minister?
You will be equipped for Stephen Ministry by attending a training program. This training program consists of 50 modules of Christian caregiving skills.
